•Transportation
Hong Kong is connected to over 220 worldwide destinations, including over 50 in Mainland China, through around 1,100 daily flights by more than 100 airlines. Delegates may choose the flights that arrive at the Hong Kong International Airport (HKG).
Transportation to HKUST Campus
MTR (subway)
The best MTR stations for transport to HKUST are:
1. Choi Hung,
2. Hang Hau,
3. Po Lam.
There are two MTR stations connected to Shenzhen’s subway (Metro) and railways, China. Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations of East Rail Line are directly connected to Luohu and Futian checkpoints respectively. If you come to Hong Kong
through land transport, you can take MTR right after crossing the boundary to visit different popular hot spots in Hong Kong.

If you are traveling from the Hong Kong International Airport by Airport Express, go to Kowloon Station and take the MTR to either of the above stations.
From either of them, you can then board a bus, minibus, or taxi that lets you off at the main entrance of HKUST.

Most of buses to HKUST leave from different MTR stations and bus terminals:

Taxi
Taxis are easily available at any MTR station, from hotels and most areas of Hong Kong. From the Hong Kong International Airport, it costs approximately HK$ 400 (about US$ 50) to get to HKUST.
From the Hang Hau MTR, taxi fare is approximately HK$40; from the Choi Hung MTR, approximately HK$75.
Taxis can let you off at the Entrance Piazza.
•Parking
APCOT2018 attendees who are not HKUST community members must use the public car park near the Southern Entrance. APCOT2018 attendees may email the secretariat (info@apcot2018.org) to make arrangements.

Passport and Visas
The Hong Kong SAR government offers visa-free access to travelers with valid passports from 157 countries. All foreign visitors entering Hong Kong must have a valid passport. Delegates are responsible to apply for their own Visa to enter Hong Kong if necessary. Delegates from countries requiring a visa should apply to the China Consular office or diplomatic mission in their country prior to departure. For details, participants should contact their local travel agents or consular offices. Currency Exchange
Hong Kong dollar is pegged with the US dollar at HK$7.8 per US dollar. It is convenient to find money changers at the Hong Kong airport terminals, though with lower rates than in the city. Some travelers prefer to use the ATM to withdraw local currency. Others exchange money through banks and hotels. However, if you want to have more Hong Kong dollars, you should head yourself to the city’s popular tourist areas or commercial districts. There are a large number of money changers clustered around these hubs, providing people with the most competitive rates.
Credit Cards and Octopus Cards
Master Card, Diners Club, Visa, American Express and Union Pay are accepted at hotels, department stores, shops, and restaurants.
Electrical Current
Hong Kong operates on 220 volts for electrical appliances. The frequency is 50 Hz.
Insurance
Conference organizers will not accept responsibility for individual, medical, travel or personal insurance, and participants are advised to take out their own insurance policies.
Climate
Hong Kong has a humid subtropical climate. Summer is hot and humid with occasional showers and thunderstorms, and warm air coming from the southwest. Typhoons most often occur in summer. The temperature of Hong Kong during the period of the conference ranges between 26.2°C (79.2°F) and 30.2°C (86.4°F). Shopping
Shopping is a popular social activity in Hong Kong, where basic items for sale do not draw any duties, sales taxation, or import taxation. Only specific import goods such as alcohol, tobacco, perfumes, cosmetics, cars and petroleum products have associated taxes. Shops and other sales outlets in Hong Kong are generally open on Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays as well as weekdays.
